When I visited the house, two doctoral students, Catherine Masoud and Kanan Patel, made us all stir-fry for lunch, while Novoselac used an ultrafine-particle counter to monitor the air quality. As the broccoli and the sugar snap peas started to caramelize, the smell from the kitchen made my stomach rumble, and Novoselac’s particle counter emitted an accelerating series of beeps. “That sound means we’ve hit the limit of the instrument,” he said. “Above a hundred thousand, it’s unreliable.” As the beeps blurred together into a shrill lament, Masoud doused the vegetables in three-quarters of a cup of Baby Ray’s Sweet Teriyaki Sauce and a tablespoon of sriracha, and lunch was served.

Well this make no sense. If our government becomes completely totalitarian then you really won’t be able to use bitcoin without risking big penalties (obviously a totalitarian government will want to destroy bitcoin).
The fact that value itself is subjective, i.e., that the “value” of gold and bitcoin are both subjective does not mean that gold and bitcoin are are equal. To understand what Bitcoin is look at what it is not. Bitcoin is not on the periodic table. It does not exist in any tangible form. It barely exists as concept in the mind. Calling it a coin and showing images of a gold coin with a “B” in the middle does not make it a gold coin with a “B” in the middle. It is not even a tulip bulb or paper. And the difference between one crypto and another crypto is nothing like the difference between silver and gold. But Bitcoin proponents and promoters have pieced together a simple albeit inconsistent story, and many people like simple stories that promise riches. When I hear those stories, words like gullible and patsy come to mind.
